The illustration drawn from Famiday’s silver cup dissolved in sulphuric acid and the final recovery of the silver by chemical process was beautiful.Temperance is not dead but sleeping till “limn works ruin.” Where, oh! where is that “Executive Committee?” Brother Lung, our worthy president, is going to leave us this'wititer and teach at Hen Peck.One of the best warehouses and elevators on the -Pan Handle road is at Galveston. It exists because M. H. Thomas, Esq., had the enterprise to build it. Its capacity is ample, and its surroundings neat and appropriate. Success attend his every effort— for this is an ornament and benefit to Galveston.Remember the Soldiers’ Reunion at Galveston, September '25th to 27th. Many renowned generals and public-spirited men will be present. Soldiers are drilling everywhere. It will be the grandest convocation ever held in the county. The camping ground has been chosen on the Charles Komler farm, one mile northwest of Galveston. At a meeting held one week ago, Saturday, it was resolved that “no intoxicating liquors shall he brought within one mile of the grounds.” But of this, more anon. S. E.
