HOLLYWOOD, Sept. 12 (U.R)—'The engagement of Andrea Leeds, young movie actress, and Robert Howard, son of the turfman Charles S. Howard, was announced today.Their romance began about four months ago. No date was set for the wedding.Miss Ieeds has become Gary Coopers leading woman a short time after going to the movie studios from the University of California at Las Angeles.It was the end of vacation and school again today for the famous movi* youngsters.California law permits juveniles to spend only eight hours a day at the studio, and four of these must be in study. Studios hire teachers who are under supervision of the state board of education.Shirley Temple .started “high” sixth grade at 20th Century Fox studio school. Her schoolmates include Jane Withers and Sybil Jason. Some 500 children will work in Shirley's next picture, and all of them will go to school at the studio.Jackie Cooper took up high school studies at Paramount* class-rooms. Linda Ware. Norma Gene Nelson and Darryl Hickman are classmates.Mickey Rooney is a senior this fall in the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studio high school. Judy Garland is enrolled there.Freddie Bartheloraew, now making a picture for RKO-Radio, went to school there. Deanna Durbin began her studies at Universal, and Edith Fellows at Columbia.Until they become of age, their daily schedule is four hours school, one hour lunch, and only three hours before the cameras.
