Among the returning membersof the regular cast are the youthful and charming Osmond Brothers, the driving, sw.nging Good Time Singers, and Dave Grusin and his studio orchestra.Andy’s record sales are numbered high in the millions, and he is a walking example thattranquilizers are unnecessary.He made his start as a singer in his ome town of Wall I^ake, Iowa, when his dad. an amateur musician, formed a choir for their church. It consisted of Andy, his mother and dad and his three older brothers, Bob, Dick and Don.The boys made their professional debut, as The Williams Brothers, on radio station WHO in Des Moines and shortly thereafter moved on to station WLSin Chicago and then to station WLW in Cincinnati.Thentothe family moved California, where the boys teamed with comedienne Kay Thompson, and for the next six years toured clubs and theatres in this country and abroad.The act broke up in 1952. But Andy still wanted to sing. He went to New York and directly into TV as the featured vocalist on NBC-TV’s “Tonight” show which starred Steve Allen. Andy’s two-week contract stretched to nearly three years.He made the jump to star of a series when he took over the “Chevy Showroom” on ABC-TV during the Summer of 1957, and received critical acclaim when he starred in the “Andy Williams Show” on CBS-TV during the Summer of 1958.
