Eye-FullsAim At Final Night(By the Associated Press)Atlantic City, N. JM Sept. 10.—'The Misses Massachusetts, California, and New Xork City were rated today the “most talented” ■ of 49 girls competing in the National Beauty pageant for the title of “Miss America, 1937.”j Saturday night the three will compete again in the final contest to determine which is the most capable singer or dancer, but the winner will not necessarily become “Miss America.”That title will be awarded tomorrow night, too, to one of the 15 girls picked in the preliminary judging during the past three nights. Names of those 15 girls are secret. .The Misses California, Kansas, Bertrand Island (N. J.), Texas, Ohio* Virginia, Montgomery, Washington, and Miami are among favorites to win the “Miss America” title.More than 100,000 spectators are expected to witness the annual “American Beauty Parade” on Atlantic City’s seven-mile boardwalk late-today. Each girl will ride down the thoroughfare on a decorated float supplied by her sponsors.Eye fillers at last night’s revue:Miss Kansas—Sweetness from the Sunflower state jn gold-trimmed Burgundy crepe, with cute little bow in, back.. .gardenia corsage... blue satin bathing suit* and fair applause../has no interest in . theatricals.. .she’s going to work in father’s bank at Norton.Miss Bertrand Island—Platinum blonde in burgundy satin, trimmed with blue: corsage to match...mll-lion-dollar smile with dimples... favorite with the crowds.-, .still a favorite in purple knit bathing suit .. .looks somewhat like the ikte Jean Harlow.Miss North Carolina—White flowing crepe gown t with cape trimmed in white fur.. .gardenia tiara... red-white-and-blue bathing suit..1, sings hat-cha numbers and tap dances like expert... loud applause:Miss Virginia—White taffeta with row of cloth-covered buttons down back, .'.white tiara and big white bow in front.. .sheer grace brings applause .. very beautiful in bright orange bathing suit ... acrobatic dancer...a favorite.Miss Empire State—Wine-colored gowp with four shafts of darker velvet up and down.. .printed silk bathing suit, .-.beautiful carriage... another Acrobatic dancer.Miss „ Jacksonville—-Dark beauty in oyster-white satin, covered with outer-fllm of lace.. .pink-checked bathing suit...tried to recite from “Gone With the Wind” but forgot lines; proceeded to read from notes but found part of notes missing; tremendous applause for best entertainment of the evening. •
