(Photo by JeffSprang)Malabar’s Falcons ClawLexington High, 28 to 0(-JBy Bill RogersHigh-stepping Bill Donaldson and stumpy Jim Bagley took turns shredding the Lexington line as Malabar High School romped to an easy 28-0 football victory over the Minutemen last night at Arlin Field.Bagley, getting a starting position, because of a knee injury to ace Vic Mack, made the most of the opportunity by running for three touchdowns in the season-opener for both schools.The 5-9, 150-pound sophomore crossed the goal line on bursts of four, six and eight yards while complementing teammate Donaldson with 80 yards on 18 rushes. Donaldson, a strong 180-pound senior fullback, was the leading ground gainer, bulling tor 85 yards in 18 carries.A Lexington fumble on the runback of the opening kickotf gave Malabar an early break, and the Faisons responded with an eight-play drive that found Quarterback Ken Thrush sneaking one yard for the touchdown with 7:17 showing on the clock.Two plays after the ensuing kickoff, another Lexington fumble opened the door again for Malabar. This time, the Falcons took over on the Lexington eight-yard line, but were unable to score —‘ temporarily.Lexington held Bagley to no gain when the young halfback tried to plunge over from one foot away on fourth down.
