Clark Mc-Clellen, senior, was named associate editor.Other staff positions filled by appointment are Norma Luna, news editor; Jeff Kendrick, photography chief; Steve Chaloupka and Ernest Duckett, co-sports editors; Eddie Boepple. roundup editor; Melinda Chapman, feature editor and Joe Chapman, consulting editor.Ryman was named the outstanding journalism student at a two-week seminar this summer on the campus of Trinity University. He is a member of Quill and Scroll, a national honor fraternity forhigh school journalists.McClellen is also a member of Quill and Scroll and was in Journalism II last year and was on the senior staff.Kendrick brings much darkroom experience to thestaff after a full summerrunning the Herald-Coaster darkroom.Melinda Chapman and Joe Chapman are also in Quill and Scroll.Bill Kell, adviser, said that this year features his largestnumber of first year journalists and sophomores have been admitted to the classes for the first time.“We are in a building stage now and by the end of the year the Hoofbeat could be one of the state’s best high school papers,” he said.
