PIONEER PEOPLE.The Tweuty-Fim Annnal Meeting of The Old :* ettiers of Brown County— A Large Crowd Present,Bean Blossom, Ind., Sept 4, ’97. Editor Times,Dear Sir:—I send you the list of the old settlers prepared on the grou-dThe old settler’s meeting at Georgetown, Brown county Saturday, was a success in every respect. There was about 8,000 people on the ground and the crowd was orderly and very little drunkenness, no disturbances of aDy kind. An mterest-program was arranged. Joseph Critcbfield of Columbus, made a speech in which he captured the crowd by his humorous manner. His address was pronounced -by many competent persons as the best ever made at the old settlers meeting in the twenty-one years it had been held. His description of his boyhood days was excellent as wellas exceedingly humorous. In tb6 afternoon short speeches made by Wm. Mabe, Sandy M. Brown, Holland McCarty of this couDty, and Archibald Fleener of Monroe county, each gave experience in the early settlement, many of which were interesting and amusing.W. W.
