Sept. 5— t/Pi—Entries in the 1945 ‘‘Miss America” contest which gets tinder wav here tomorrow night were cut to 40 today when ‘ Miss Vermont” was called home because of the illness of her father, and Miss Cuba” failed toappear. .The 40 contestants made their firstmiblic appearance Tuesday in a Red, White and Blue Victory parade viewed by 150.000 spectators along the 4-mile route in the boardwalk area.Miss Venus Ramey of Washington, D C ‘‘Mi's America of 1944” occupied the first of 01 floats that presented the contestants individually.
