%♦Profits of the recent Indian powwow at the Musquakie rcs-ervation of Tama county, totalling nearly .$4,((() art* to be divided- equally anion# 154 Indians of the tribe, this being the number who took part or assisted in the enterprise as performers, operators of stands and concessions, as traffic police or in other capacities. The 154 Musquakies put on the show with a little aid from two white men — Curator E. R. Harlan, of the state historical department of Des Moines, who lectur.ed and had general charge of the program of the pow-wow, and •Joseph Svacina, of Bohemian parentage, a harnessmakor of Tama, who assumed considerable of -the business management. Mr. Svacina is, perhaps the most influental white man among the Tama Indians. Profits of the pow-wow this year were $1,500 more than any previous year.
