PERRY, IOWA, FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 2,1887R!ILday.IABOONE BEATEN.Perry Did it by a Score of Nine to Two.BY OUR SPECIAL IlEPOllTFU.The Terrv Club went to Boone Friday to “play toll” aud they did. Every-tbdy played ball and played to win. Sam and Cbaa. Lee held the polnta for Perry, and Cunningham and McDumet were the battery for Boone. Perry got seventeen base hits oil of Cunningham, in fact the hits came in ilocka, but Boone could not make one little base hit block all by itself. The feature of the game was Boone's kicking on their own umpire. When play was called one of the Boone club complained of being chilly and played with his coat on. In the eighth inning three more said they were cold and put on their coats, and uheu the game was called they all had on their coats. In fact it was a very cold day for Boone.HOW IT WAS DONE.Chas. Lee went to hat, flaxed a two bagger to center-field, but it was a fly and Charlie sat down. Perry hit a short grounder to the pitcher and was retired at first. Bus Smith hit the ball in the nose for one base and promptly purloined second. Harry Smith sawed off a base hit, but Bus was put out getting to Jhird base. Thus a goose egg.Boone went to bat amid applause, but there was a great decline in the applause market when tbe first man hit a pop up fly, for Bus gave it a kind reception. No. is hit a hot grounder and Sam Lee, through charity, took it in and handed it over to Bus and No. 2 retired. No. 3 bit a grounder, but Bus nipped it and posed on first and * iok the liberty of enlightening the crowd that Boone had a goose egg.In the second inning Ilart made a short hit, but was thrown oat at first. Green fanned air. Plckrell hit, made first, stole second and third. C. Lee, (the little two spot) hit the trade mark for two baga and Pickrell came in. Wainwright struck out and Chas. was left on second base.Now it was Boone’s turn, but Sam gave “era” a few double extrrs, war-rented 200-yard twists, and two proved that they could not bit fog. The thirdman got to Prat through an error ofPerry’s, but No. 4 workel the fao and that settled it.In the next inning our boys were presented with a goose egg In three sections; to-wit: Chas. Lee fouled out, Perry out on fly to center-field, and the Boone pitcher wag kicking about the p6or support hiaclub was giving him, bo Bus just fanned out to please him. Boone was more successful this inning, making a grand total of one run. Sam hit the Brat man with the ball, which gave him first. No. 2 bit fora base, but was retired. At first Bus tried to make a double play, but mode a wild throw and No. 1 went to third. No. 3 made a base hit and No. 1 came home. No. 3 made a sneak for second, but Chas. Lee dropped the ball over in that vicinity, and Pickrell put him out. No. 4 fouled out.For Peny, Harry Smith made a base hit, but died on second; Ilart hit for a base, stole second; Green hit a single; Hart went to third; Green stole second;first man made a base hit and went prancing down the line toward second in a sneaking sort of way which irritated the “two spot” and like a streak of lightning Chas. sent the ball over to second and sneaker died. No. 2 bit a fly and Harry Smith took it in: No. 3 bit a high fly to center field, where the ever vigilant Wainwrlght welcomed it hospitably, and so ended the sixth act.The next inning Rug gained first on an error of tbe catcher, but died on second through an error of the umpire. II. Smith fanned. Ilart gave the short stop action on a fly.Boone got out a “1’ierce, Potts Co.’s” search warrant and found onescore. No. I base hit. stole second, No. 2 struck out, No. .1 two base hits. No. 1 came borne. No. 3 'stole 3 and was put out by Charlie Lee at home plate; No. 4 was retired by the old combination of Sam to Itus.In the eighth inning Green fanned out; Pickrell bit a fly to right field, “nobody there,” stole second and third: Sam Lee made a safe base hit; Wain-wright found the ball for first; Pickrell came home; Sam Lee went to second; Chas. Lee pecked on the home plate twice to see that it was there aDd hit a spiral for two bases, bringing Sam home and sending Wainwrlght to third, who afterwards stole homo on a pass ball. Perry made a good first base hit, Btole second and third; Itus mado a hit to tbe short stop, but the short stop’s fingers were all butter and Rus got to first and died stealing second; Harry Smith’s safe first; Hart was thrown out at first and that was the end thereof, leaving Harry on second.lloone:—No. 1, base hit, stole second and third, put out at home; No. 2 fouled out; No. 3 out at first.The ninth and last Green fell upon the ball so vigorously that it went up, up until it looked like a mote speck. Green yelled, “Ah there, my skyrocket,” and started to hippodrome the bases, but the ball was fielded in and Green put out after he bad made three bags. Pickrell out at first; Sam Lee struck out.Well.lt was Boone’s last and only hope, but it was no go.
