Manystep which launches him Into school life.Mrs Troy Rhody, kindergarten teacher here, was questioned about that same problem this week, and came forth wtih somedown-to-earth suggestions. Herinterest In the little beginners stems from a little more than just a desire to be a school teacher. She particularly likes kindergarten pupils, she says, perhaps because they are so innocent. As they enter school, they be- \ ,ng them u with a belt Sornecom© social conscious, perhaps1for the first time, and herein liesthe story of clotheB. Startingschool is a big adjustment for the child. They want to he like the other children, and many classroom problems can be traced oftentimes to the simple matter of what the child wears in that classroom each day.Mrs Rhody suggests simpler clothes for the child in school— comfortable clothes that hang from the shoulders and give plenty of freedom for active little arms and legs, Prom the laundrystandpoint at home, the simpler f re8CUe a little boy or two ingarments ar© an advantage, too, though Mrs Rhody points out that the clays and paints used at school are washable, and th© children are given apron© to wear to help them keep clean.IN ROOMPRICE OF9ftS?JSSFSfligilt, your bwf stop for mfct,Lovafy n«w roonu, lobby, cef.h* drop. When cowboy suspenders were sold in Glenwood last term, some of the little boys proudly wore them,Zippers in children’s sweaters and Jackets are okay, Mrs Rhody says, but sometimes the child cannot handle them. Almostevery child can handle buttons by the time he is of school age, however, she points out. Even little zippered trousers are sometimes difficult for little boys to handle, and Mrs Rhody has hadthe toilet who was trying to slidehis trousers down because he wastoo hashful to ask for help. Not a bad idea from the standpoint of the child is to allow him or her to wear the clothes he will be wearing In the classroom before school opens. It gives him a good chance to become familiar with new fastenings, and he’ll feel more comfortable and at home,Hair is important, too, particularly to little girls. If one little girl comes to school wearing a pony tail, it won’t be long until there are several. Little glrlB who come wearing pin curls, however, usually manage to take them out before the day is over because they feel they’re different fom the other children.
