CARGO CHUTE demonstration at the museum. Hugh Moyer, Linn Grove native and Decatur resident, brought a Korea type, cargo parachute to the museum Sunday afternoon. He un-folded and re-folded it, showing the various steps necessary. He explained the traditional ac-cordian style of folding the cordage, by using anewspaper between each fold He featured multiple drops of two or three, in his flying days, and during one summer he made 64 separate drops in 22 balloon ascensions. Using a jet pilots pack, explained the rip cord, spring release, black pilot chute, sleeve, colored sections with side vent and cord storage system.He also displayed an emergency chute but did not open it as it mast be re packed by an official rigger only.
