fAHKA IN ■I THE MOVIESPicture play to interest people in repa.k.ng church- '— SHOWN IN RIVERtown next week.• •Oquawka, Oct. 31.—Oquawka people will have an opportunity to see their own town and lellow citizens in movies next Friday evening, Nov. 7, In the new motion picture theater. “Let’s Fix It,” the photo play that •was /.’ken in Oquawka the first part of the month with the object in view of interesting the people of the town in repairing the old Methodist church here, will be shown at that time. A privileged few saw the proof of the picture shown in the photographic studio of C. H. Osgood in Galesburg Wednesday afternoon a*nd those who saw it are confident that it will be successful in its purpose as well as furnish unbounded amusement w’heu it is shown here next week.The idea of making the movie was conceived by Rev. D. K. Sailor, pastor of the local M. E. church. He realized that the church was badly j in ntf'd of repair. He realized moreover that in order to interest the people in accomplishing the task as it should be , some novel method would have to be employed. So about three weeks ago he employed the Galesburg {photographer, Osgood who came down to Oquawka and “shot” the picture.) It will be shown next week and a campaign to raise the amount aecessary to make the long needed repairs by subscription will tie launched at that time.Next Thursday afternoon at 5 (O’clock there will be a free matinee for the pupils of the grade school in the new theater. All others will have an opportunity of seeing the picture Friday evening at 7:30, but you (must have a ticket for the six o’clock supper which will be served by the Ladies’ Aid society in the basement Of the M. E. church. You do not buy a theater ticket, but you buy a ticket to **e chicken pie supper which is to Ibe presented at the theater door SJOr admission. After the film has ibten shown the doors of the theater , Will be thrown open and Dr. Elmer Lynn William*, the popular lecturer known as the “fighting parson of Chicago, will give an address. He ’Will manage the campaign for the raising of the money to repair the church. The supper tickets go on jjftfo next Tuesday.lt; The idea that prevails throughout tjje picture is that of the young par-isOn securing the aid and support of the people in fixing the old church. And incidentally there are scenes of latereit about town as well as numerous amusing situations. The opening scene is that of the young pastor [entering the church but hastily com-ling out again with a look of disappointment upon his countenance. He ; hastens down town and is seen se?k-\ing the aid of the various merchants d business men who are seen ra h- from within their places of busiest and 'enthusiastically declaring hat they will help fix it.’*There are also group pictures of e pupils of the high and public chool and they too give their assent to help “fix it.” The interior of the button factory is shown operating in full force. There is also a scene of the court house and county officials. The closing sceen pictures the return Ot twp ftsher^nan from their day’s 'Tforit on the river and the pastor wel-feoinmg them home.
