DENVER (AP) — If Charles Ansbacher has his way, the first visitor to Denver’s new airport will be Pope John Paul II.The pope is scheduled to visit Denver in next August, about two months before Denver International Airport will open. That would give the city an advantage to hold a spectacular ceremony for the pope, Ansbacher said.Ansbacher is head of the New World Airport Commission, an organization formed to promote DIA. The new airport, scheduled to open for business Oct. 29,1993, will replace Stapleton International Airport.“You could have doves flying in the air, balloons and brass brands,” he said. “None of those things would be possible in an oper a t i ng a i r por t. ”
