DAVIS NEWSBy Mrs. DeM CosMr. and Mrs. Wilmer McCardie had for a barbecue supper Saturday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Willard McCardie and boys, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Detmer and Nathan, of Els-berry, Mr. and Mrs. George Prior and family, of Vandalia, Miss Beverly Powers, of Troy, and Mr. and Mrs. Shelby Thornhill and daughters.Dennis McCafferty left Wednesday for San Diego, Calif., where he will be stationed for training in the Marines.Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Smith and daughter, of St. Louis, were Saturday evening guests of Mrs. Leo Farrar.Mr. and Mrs. James Lavy, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Zumwalt, Mr. and Mrs. Guy ZumwaK and Shelby Thornhill attended the wrestling Friday night in St. Louis.Robert Derham spent the week end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.Ai Derham.Mrs. Clem Jones, Mrs. Ben Bray, Mrs. Cardie Wells and Mrs. James 7umwalt were shopping in St. Louis, Wednesday. , ’Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Smith and family, of Webster Groves, were Sunday guests of Mrs. Leo Farrar.Mr. and Mrs. Shelby Thornhillwere dinner guests of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Thornhill. Afternoon guests were Mr. and Mrs. George Thornhill and family of St. Peters, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Thornhill.Miss Tressie Lavy spent Friday night with Miss Janet Thornhill.The Evening College of the University of Missouri at St. Louis placed 47 students on the Dean’s List for the winter semester.The University of Missouri at St. Louis will begin its first crosscountry season during the fall semester with a 9-meet schedule.
