RUMOR IS FALSE SAYS DEAN WELLSReport of Penalizing Organiza tions For Improper Dancing By Individuals is Untrue.WANTS ALL TO CO-OPERATEDean of Women Believes “Few Of fenders are Guilty Thru Habit Rather Than Intention.”“There is no basis for the rumor that any fraternities or organizationshave been penalized for improper dancing,” was the statement given out by Dean Agnes E. Wells yesterday. Persistent reports that action had been taken against three organizations Saturday night for tabooed dancing was the cause of the statement.Dean Wells expressed satisaction in the way that students are co-operating to put the ban on cheek-dancing and camel walk dancing. “I believe that tfie dancing as a whole has been excellent,” she continued, “and that the few offenders have been guilty thru habit rather than intention.”It was the general impression on thecampus that the cards given out to offenders on the dance floor would automatically deprive the organizations concerned of further social functions but Dean Wells stated that this reportwas not true. “The object of the whole%system is to secure co-operation, and not to make spies of the chaperons who are guests or hosts at social events,” she said. “However, if t£e card system fails to get re suite stronger action may be decided on later.” Dean Wells commended the courtesy of Indiana Btudents at social functions, and expressed satisfaction with the music which has been used thus far.
