. | WILL SUSPEND MINTINGOF STEEL CENTS THIS YEARIMinting of the unpopular steel penny will fend with the year, according to word from Washington. It will be superseded by a coin almost identical with the pre-war bronze cent, made from salvaged cartridge cases plus a small bit of virgin copper.The pennies which have been minted to the number of 534,000,-000 since February were of carbon steel, coated with zinc. After use they turn black but when new are easily mistaken for dimes, as manya tipped taxi-driver found oi/t to his cost. Senator C. Douglass Buck of Delaware introduced a bill tosuspend their manufacture. ii
