The Durand football tournament was instituted by the British Ambassador *to the United States, in 1888, when he was Foreign Secretary to theGovernment of India, and*as ardent, if not quite;sofrequent, a player as when he was at Blackheath. This is' the ninth time in eighteen years that the cup has been won by a single goal.
