\m■Shades of Lew Dockstader, Eddi© Deonard and Carroll Johnson, but only the shades! parading in true old-timo minstrel formation, burnt cork and loud ' Ethiopian costumes, the Chung Mel Homo minstrels— the only Chinese minstrel troop in the world—marched through the business streets this afternoon. A bugle corps which included trumpeters so small they looked as though they should be riding in go-carts headed the procession.The whole contingent will be seen in un all-star minstrel show with a. snappy olio on Friday evening in the High school auditorium. And those who don’t believe a Chinese can sing a jazzy darky melody, sliimmlo his shoulders and shake his “dogs’’ can find out it’s all a mistake by purchasing an admission ticket. The i money raised by the show will go to the Chung Mei Home building fund to be spent for an addition to the home In West Berkeley.Dr. Charles 10. Shepherd, head o1 the home, lead the minstrel “men1 in the parade this afternoon. He .will direct the show on Friday night ^ A contingent of end men will rattlethe. bones and spank the tamboes, tear off yards of “Mistah Interlocutor” stuff and sing and dance.
