Whitney, for seven years secretary of the St. Petersburg Board of Trade, the man who had a large parti ____! in putting St. Petersburg on the map, 'and who did such splendid woik in !the interest of the West Coast Short Route. L. A. Whitney is everywhererecognized as one of the leading com-jmercial secretaries of the south, and has a national reputation. The acting; secretary is in receipt jof a letter from Mr. Whitney accepting an invitation to be present at the | annual board of trade banquet to be held at the Hotel Watrous Friday night, October 29.Interest is growing in the banquet as the time approaches for enjoying it, and tickets are finding a ready I sale. Mr. Joiner, chairman of the entertainment committee, who has the arrangements of the affair in hand, is meeting with success in formulating a program both original and entertaining. The nominating committee is keeping quiet as to its report, and no inkling of the names of those who will be nominated to fill the several offices has yet leaked out, and speculation is rife as to who the nominees will be.The secretary of the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce has also been invited to be present at the banquet, as has Mr. Dickie, of the Tampa Board of Trade. Mr. Dickie is out of thehere; and last, but not least, our own Rube Allyn has been invited and is expected to answer to the toast, “Sarasota.”Inlt; ore\As the budget plan, which it is expected will be proposed at the business meeting previous to the banquet, becomes familiar to the citizens, it is becoming more and more popular and the prospects for a live organization with a full-time paid secretary were never brighter. As it is going to require the full cooperation of every citizen to put ! the plans for the organization that Sarasota needs over, it is hoped that the attendance at the banquet will ! necessitate the use of the S. R. O.!bijCi i AmtopcT,Wtosei“Fsign.Anotherwhich will beiprojectbrought up at the banquet, but which has been kept a secret up to the present time, is a plan to provide a bandfor Sarasota. This’ should interest ! everybody, and will doubtless meet with general approval.Owing to the fact that the members of the committee having the sale of tickets to the banquet in charge, all being busy, it may be that some willnot be qpproached with tickets. Any who have not yet had the opportunity of purchasing tickets should call on Mr. Joiner at the First NationaltotethHOiI*lstate at the present time, on important business, and cannot be present, but it is hoped that the secretary of the Jacksonville organization will beBank at once and make sure of having a place at the table.Just another tip: Mr. Stansberryhas shown the menu cards to be used at the banquet, to a few members of the committee. Well, They’re all tothe good. 'nefixshdcPiTlaraferI fit
