Keiter of Jefferson City whenhe addressed Linn County Republicans at the Purdin City HalL Themeeting was anotner in a series of the Linn County Republican earavan being conducted this week.£1tRev. Keiter warned the more than 100 persons present against expenditures for non-essential purposes which would weaken ouris so neces-1114economic systemsary to back up this prepardness.The speaker blasted the “mon-stratosities” of the New Deal pro* garm from the Roosevelt era to the present. He stressed the unlimited indebtedness and the danger of inflation that “we are rapidly drifting into.” And he added that no one knows of this danger any better than the present administration. “The trouble is that they (the administration) don't know how to bring us away from this danger,” he declared.Rev. Keiter also stressed the importance of the ballot which is0equal for both rich and poor— high and low—alike. But he added that the hallot is a sacred thing. ! It must be properly received and counted, he said, adding that it is the obligation of each voter to cast a ballot.*J1(Jlt;iit114H5[itpUsing statistics as a measure, Rev. Keiter said that Dewey might be President today if 35,000 votes had been cast in the right places in 1948. If those additional votes had been cast in the right place the right way the Presidential election would have been decided in the House, he said.In addition, if 50,000 votes in the right place had been cast, Dewey would have been elected, he said. “But instead,” Rev. Keiter pointed out, “20 million registered voters did not bother to vote. Almost another 20 million not required to register did not go to the polls.He concluded by saying that the penalty citizens suffer by not voting is that the least efficient officers are placet^ in power.The meeting was arranged by W. H. Blackburn and Mrs. Marjorie Murrain, committeeman and committeewoman at Benton Township, and Walter R. Head, vice chairman of the County Central Republican Committee.Tonight the Republican Caravan will end at Marceline where the Women s Republican Club of Linn Couut will meet at the Amert-carr Legion Home.
