Greatest Parade In City History Opens Events Here On SaturdayBy JOE CAMPBELLThe Wiregras* area's greatest parade of *11 time will be herald-. «d by orchestra music ay the float of the Auburn Knights moves up Poster Street Saturday.The musicians from Auburn will advance 15 minutes ahead of the National Peanut Festival parade which will swing into t h e view of thousands at 10 a.m.The mammoth one-mUe-long rc-rade composed of 6-1 'different units from the Wire grass area will include 1 bar.ds.Parade officials have announced a laat-mlnutc change in the parade route so that tourist traffic through Dothan might floiO mere easily.The parade units will assemble at Young Junior High school at 8:30 a.m. The procccston will *:art at the Poster-Crawferd Street intersection and from there will take the following route:North on Foster Street to Newton Street, then West on Newton to. Oates Street, following Oates Southward, then turning right o n V/cst Main and down West Main to the First Baptist church-Officials estimate that it will take more than a hour for the parade to pass a reviewing stand at Foster Street Methodist-church. The procession is expected to be over by noon.The judging of floats wDl lake place during tho parade. Winners will bo announced and the awards will bo made at the fooiball game Saturday. night.Following the Auburn Knights, a detachment of the Stale Highway Patrol will clear the way for the mile-long process jcn.The parade will be fed by a I United Slate* Marine Corps color I guard.
