-L VU'l li; UiUO.j u;Hospital. The Theatre.—Wo are embarrassed in speaking of tho new theatre, because it has been so much tho fashion of journalists to speak of tho vurious attempted theatres iu grandiloquent terms, that tho plain truth is• apt to bo passed coldly by. The theatre last season was a vast improvement on anything that wo had previously enjoyed. That of the present time will be a still greater improvement. It bears 110 resemblance wliatover to -tho old buildiug, and is, to all intents and 1 purposes, new. The Greomvall brothers have spent money liberally, both iu that which is substantial, and iu tho decorative. To begin at tho beginning, the entrances have all been enlarged; that leading to the par-quetto -is six feet, wide, covered, separate aud distinct from tho ticket office, which also communicates with tho private office of tho manager. The door of tho auditorium, has been entirely•changed, and a sufficient decline given to afford from every seat, a perfect view of the stage. The dress circle extends entirely .around the hall. The fiido and front gallery is furnished w;ith chairs, while extending back is au arrangement somewhat similar to an amphitheater, for tho accowadatioiiof colored persons and those desiring low priced admission. Tho dress circle will be tbo favorite resort of families, and those who go for tho Jovo'of tho drama.Tho nisles are so arranged that no• %spectator will have to pass more than one feat to his or her' chair. The par-^uetto is seated with arm chairs, and tho aisles aro covered with Iudia matting. Tho front of tho dress circle is finishd in imitationof marble The orchestra is •paneled.- The~•privatejjoxes aro covered with gold paper and neatly tapestried. We now havo done with ' what players call tho “front,v and say in conclusion that it is neat, elegant and far more satisfactory than wo had expected. The curtain is an Oriental scene, and as awork of art, is much superior to that which• * ^hangs in front of tho Varieties’ stago in Now Orleans. If wo make an erroneous statement any spectator can judge tor himsolf. The stage has been increased bv the erection of. a back building which contains many things which formerly took up stage room. In this new building is the property room, the paint frame, *b»3 stage, carpenters’ shop, the green room and eight handsome aud commanding dressing rooms.1110 theatre lias been equipped with all appliances necessary to the production of the
