Notice of her death appeared in an earlier issue.Xenia Zarina, an internationally recognized classic dancer and teacher, who started her career in La Grange, died Aug. 15 in Mexico City.itefbte assuming her professional name, she was June Zimmerman, residing with her late parents, Oliver and Grace Zimmerman at 324 S. Ashland ave., LaGrange. Xenia Zarina was introduced to classic dancing through Madam Preigh's classesthroughout Europe with visits to Lebanon and Egypt.In 1954 she went to Mexico where she had first danced and taught in 1927, and learned to love the (country and its people, She was promptly engaged as a teacher of Oriental dance by the renowned Instituto des Belles Artes. Here she gave recitals, joined with-ballets and presentedher pupils. In addition to these duties, she studied the nativeMorelos, Mexico where she completed the manuscript for her book “Classic Dances of the Orient”, published by, Crown Publishers, New 1fork. Unfortunately, death came just six weeks before the book was ready for distribution. It remains however, a tribute to her life work and a memorial to her.Xenia Zarina is survived by a sister, Hope Troxell of Lone Pine, and a brother, Gordon Zimmerman of San Rafael, Cal.
