The 1998 CavOILcade coronation, beginning at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Port Arthur Civic Center, will feature 47 princesses who will vie for scholarship monies from various area sponsors.Throughout the season princesses have attended a mother and daughter tea at First Bank Trust, a father and daughter picnic at the Pleasure Island Commission office and a portrait showing at the Port Arthur Club. The 1998 CavOILcade princesses are:Wendy Nicole Avila, daughter of Christopher and Betty Avila, will represent Peggy Nash’s Insurance Agency as a 1998 CavOILcade princess.Avila attends Lincoln High School where her activities include the National Honor Society, Youth in Government and AKA Debettes. She chairs the special events committee of the senior class.Her community activities include visiting nursing homes, volunteering at Port Arthur Day Care, serving food at church banquets for the elderly and Christian Youth Organization.Avila plans to attend Lamar University at Port Arthur and the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston to study physical therapy*Jennifer Bean, daughter of Gorden and Denise Bean, will represent Darby Gas Oil Co. as a 1998 CavOILcade princess.Bean attends Thomas Jefferson High School where her activities include Maroon and Gold Band. She is head twirler and part of the Good Sportsman League.She is a member of St. Catherine Catholic Youth Organization and Teen Krewe of Aurora and attends Colleen’s Twirling Academy.Bean plans to attend Lamar University.Angela Rochelle Blood, daughter of Tammie and Kirk Blood, will represent Berg’s Engine Service as a 1998 CavOILcade princess.Blood attends Sabine Pass High School where her activities include cheerleading, student council, National Honor Society, band, SpanishClub, drama club, volleyball, basketball, tennis, track and the Leo Club. She is the class president.She is a volunteer at St. Paul Church and with Dick Dowling Lions, in Teen Krewe of Aurora and Catholic Youth Organization.Blood plans to study accounting at Lamar University at Beaumont.Leslie Suzanne Breaux, daughter of Joe and Suzanne Breaux, will represent the Port Arthur Club as a 1998 CavOILcade princess.Breaux attends Nederland High School where her activities include National Honor Society, student council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Health Occupations Students of America, Terrific Nederland Teens, German Club and varsity soccer.Her community activities include volunteering at the Special Adults’ Basketball Tournament, babysitting at church and informing children about drug and alcohol abuse. She has played volleyball , basketball and softball. She is a former vice president of theHealth Occupation Students ofAmerica; this year she will be on the social committee. She is the National Honor Society president and student body representative and a student in Varied Experiences for the Gifted in Academics. She is enrolled in Summit III and is a “Who’s Who Among American High School Students” multiple award recipient. She served as a People to People ambassador to Australia and New Zealand and was a Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership ambassador.She is president of the St. Joseph Catholic Youth Organization and a Mexican Heritage Society dancer.Dement plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin and study biology.Heather Lynn Domaschk,daughter of Mark and Laura Domaschk, will represent Novrozsky’sas a 1998 CavOILcade princess.Domaschk attends NederlandHigh School where her activities have included marketing education. The Summit III student is a member of Vocational Industrial Clubs of America.She is president of Delsprites and is a Greater Port Arthur Chamber of Commerce junior board member.Gunner plans to attend University of Houston to study business.Kelli Halliburton, daughter of Tom and Donna Halliburton, will represent the Port Arthur News as a 1998 CavOILcade princess.Halliburton attends Thomas Jefferson High School where her activities have included symphonic band, jazz band, University Interscholastic League solo and ensemble contest, UIL concert contest, Citizen Bee and the National Honor Society. She is a captain of the Swingsters and is on the drama team.She has sung carols at a nursing home with the National Honor Society, volunteered to help teachers during tests, helped with bake sales, cleaned a school courtyard, is in Catholic Youth Organization at St. Catherine Church, has given gifts at the children’s ward of St Mary Hospital, been a big buddy for a junior high spectacular and furnished supplies for prisoners.Halliburton is still deciding on college plans.Amy Lynn Hebert, daughter of Mervin and Tonya Hebert, will represent North Port Arthur Rotary as a 1998 CavOILcade princess.Hebert attends Thomas Jefferson High School where her activities have included drill team, band, golf, student congress, Good Sportsmanship League and Students Against Drunk Driving.
