Wings Over Jordan to .Appear With San Antonio Symphony November 22NEW YORK, October 10— Rev.*)-Glynn T. Settle, originator and director of the Wings Over Jordan Choir, has announced that the famous group will appearwith the San Antonio Symphony Orchestra on November 22. The invitation to appear on the program of the Symphony Orchestra is symbolic of the great progress made by Wing* Over Jordan in improving inter-racial good will.Several years ago Wings Over Jordan appeared in San Antonio under the auspices of a local church. It was necessary to originate their Columbia Broadcasting System coast-to-coast broadcast from the San Antonio radio station. The choir members were embarrassed and chagrined tofind that they were not permittedto use the elevators of the hotel in which the studio was located. They had to walk up many floors to make a broadcast which was to be enjoyed by millions of people of both races. Each succeeding year, progresswas evidenced in the fight againstdiscrimination, as the choir found San Antonio to be more and fnore aware of the fallacy of their traditional customs. The officials of the Columbia Broadcasting System, meanwhile, took action to prevent a recurrence of the previous incident en routeto the studio. Now, after a few years of patience, exemplary condust, and the display of talent and artistry, the Wings Over Jprdan Choir has merited an invitation to appear with one of the outstanding white musical organizations of the south. When Wings Over Jordan opens their program in San Antonio with the familiar words of Go Down Moses,” they will ,be heard by many people who have made their lives more worthwhile thru the faith and inspiration they have derived from the Negro spirituals.I
