F., at Council Bluffs this week. It will be a large gathering; for the annual encampment of the Rebekabs will be held Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, while the grand lodge meets Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. A Des Moines degree team will put on the royal purple in the encampment. Mr. Robb will receive £he grand lodge degree while at the session.Visitors—Mrs. C. D. Heinley,: of Mexico, Mo., • visited her brother, Greeley, Homan, and other relatives in this vicinity several days, departing the latter part of last week for her home. Mrs, Edmund Homan, of Prescott, was a guest at ,the home of her son, H. G., a short time last week, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Homan and Evelyn Roberts, of Grand Junction, Colo., also visited at the same home and with other relatives, and friends in this vicinity. The guests departed the latter part of the week for their homes.Home—Mr. and Mrs. Ed Schafroth returned last week, from an extended trip east. They had been absent from home since the 24th of August. Their trip was a fine one. They took in Chicago, Niagara Falls, Wheeling, West Virginia; Allantown, Pa.; Columbus, O.; and the home of their birth, Sar-. dis, Ohio’ Fred Schafroth and daughter, Miss Clara, who left at the same time for the east,' remained for a longer visit. While absent Mr. Schafroth attended the state encampment of old soldiers at Marietta, Ohio. The trip ’was a very pleasant one.from his extended trip east. He re-1 ports the ^time of his life, particularly at Marietta, Ohio, where he attend-ed the reunion of his regiment in the war-of the rebellion. Mr. Schafroth and -his daughter. Miss Clara, were gone about three months, and they enjoyed every moment.In Truro—W. G. Caskey, of Mercer^ township, went to Truro last Thursday to visit relatives, A family reunion was on there in the Caskey family. Mrs. ’ Martha Holmes, mother of Mr. 1 Caskey, had reached the seventy- j eighth mile stone in life, and her sons, j Robert Caskey, of Truro, and W. G. of our city, assisted her in properly celebrating the-occaaion Thursday.Expected—Mr. and Mrs. Samuel -Wark, of Adair, are expected in our city the latter part of this week to visit the former’s sister, Mra. Frank Hough. ' Mr. and Mrs. Wark have been yisiting in Des Moines and St. Charles and will go from hero to Council Bluffs and probably down into Missouri. Mr.. Wark is mayor of Adair. He has not been having . good health and is taking a rest.Accidents—Miss Pearl Bixler, a member of the junior class of Corning high school, had the misfortune to step in a hole when getting out of a tree at the lake last week during the class party and break her left limb near the ankle. The break is a serious one and a bone was also dislocated. Miss Joy Hanna was also the victim of an accident. She sustained a badly sprained ankle and has since been using crutches to get about. The young ladies are getting along as well.as could be expected.Paving Done—The paving at the 1 depot is completed, and it makes the finishing touches to the main street at that end of the line. The Burlington people used the brick blocks, but otherwise the same specifications aa those used by the city were observed. A new cement walk for
