Hollywood has a gala premier in two weeks when the new Palladium Ballroom opens for the first time. The orchestra providing the music is Tommy Dorsey and company, the finest white band in the country today. Not only known to have the best crop of musicians in the business, but he’s got a great group of singers besides. Connie Haines sings the jump tunes in true “jump” manner. Dorsey’s sweet arrangements, featuring the voices of Frank Sinatra and the Pied-Pipers, are the biggest-selling tunes on wax. Proof of this is seen by the exceptional popularity of “I’ll Never Smile Again,” and “The One I Love Belongs to Somebody Else.”
