FIRE DESTROYSLARGE DARNLarge Barn In . North vPart of Town Destroyed by FireThe clang, clang, clang of the fire bell Tuesday motiving announced to the people of Oxford the beginning of the destruction of the large barn on the property known as the Dr. Doty property; but now owned by Miss Matilda Paul. Before the echo of the first stroke of the bell had died away the fire fighting apparatus was on its way to the scene of the conflagration, arriving there in a remarkably short space of time. The fire had spread to every part of the building, however, before the discovery was made, and consequently the structure burn-«ed to the ground despite the efforts of the firemen. Good work by members of the fire-fighting squad kept .the fire from spreading to the houses nearby, and quick thinking on the part ofJ some made possible the saving of considerable goods that had been stored in the west part of the barn. The barn had been rented by Murray Yenter, one of our local mail carriers, and his entire supply of hay and feed was destroyed. Luckily, however, he had the feed well insured, and therefore his loss was small, Miss Paul, however, had just purchased the property recently, and had neglected to look after the insurance. Her loss ran into several hundred dollars and was complete.
