Special Corrcaponaencoot the Democrat.Waldron, Ind., Oct. 11.1886.meetings at the tent are as well attended as ever. The reviews made by the Adventists of. the sermons preached against them, have made them many friends. Saturday afternoon their Sabbath School was well attended, there being over fifty in attendance, and lessons well learned. The Adventists do not conduct their Sabbath School after the usual order of the popular Sunday School, they having lesson sheets published bytheir own people, which require a constant study of the Bible, and partake of the same earnest spirit of investigation of God’s word, in subjects, as do their preaching from the desk. Last night there was a full crowd in attendance, the donation amounting to over §8. They are now circulating a petition for the erection of a church house, which is to be free to other denominations, and subscriptions are coming in freely. I hope soon to see a house of worship erected here that will not be closed against every one who does not believe exaaetly as the denomination teaches who happens to hold the key. Our Adventists express their thanks to the boys for their kindness in removing their rally Saturday night to the other part of town so as not to interfere with their meetings. ^Elijah Byland will be eighty-five years old on the 21st of October He is an old time Democrat. The first vote he cast was for Gen. Jackson in 1822. He is next to the oldest Democrat in Liberty township, and he has never asked for office, and he never had a lawsuit. He was 1st Lieutenant in the militia regiment that mustered here forty years ago under Col. Aldridge, of Kentucky.
