The government is making another effort to persuade and even compel the Indians at Tama to go to school. But it is not likely to meet with better results than former efforts along that line. The Muskwakies have no desire for the learning or the methods of life among white men. The Presbyterians have had a missionary among them for years but without a single conversion. They want to be Indians and living the lives of Indians in as small territory as they are nowcompelled to occupy means thepradualexterminationof the tribe.
