Monday night thia place was visited by a tremendous gale, and the highest tide that was ever known. The marshes were completely covered. Thousands of Urns of hay were destroyed, and thousands of cattle and ■heep drowned. Tho dykes on the marshes are all gone, and tho bridges all through I ho country swept away. The Eastern Extension Railroad track is torn up for eight or ten miles, and the telegraph line connecting with the cahle and Halifax obliterated. The tidal wave haa caused great destruction on tho bay of Fundy, and in and around St. John the tide rose to a great height, carrying away and destroying an immense amount of property. Wharves were raised, and ships, houses, barns, and cattle were swept away. Tho bridges of the Kuropeon and North American Railroad were destroyed.
