Va. man was fatally injured early yesterday morning when he was accidentally struck by a car driven by his brother near Blue Beach Tavern on Route 28.The victim, Carl Wilson Puffin-burger died on the way to a hospital a few minutes after he was picked up by a Romney ambulance.Walking On Roadr-B-r-n,ht-V.V £ v \]IcVVV40-l-L-y11oaAccording to A. L. Russell, county coroner, the accident occurred about 12:40 a. m. yesterday after Puffin-burger started walking down the highway toward Port Ashby.Russell said the two brothers were 1 a together at the tavern and after it P closed at midnight, the victim began walking toward Port Ashby. His brother, James C. Puffinburger, also of Green Spring, got in his car and intended to pick his brother up on f the way.The brother told Russell he did not see Carl until he was about three or four feet in front of him.He said he tried to swerve and miss the walker but could not turn his car fast enough. Carl was about 100 yards from the tavern when he was struck.Russell said an ambulance from Combs Funeral Home in Romney was called and Puffinburger died a few minutes later about three miles from Springfield on his way to a Cumberland hospital.
