Crimson Masque To Determine “First Lady”Masque, Community Theatre Produce Two Summer PlaysWho’s going to be the “first lady” to step up and try out for the December Crimson Masque pkty, “First Lady”? All members of theCrimson Masque are eligible to come and read a pari from the play on. October lb and 10. There are at least ten good roles for talented Masque members. Be sure to get a copy of the play from the library and read it so you can decide whether or not you want to be a cute Southern gal, an old gossip, or a tricky politician’s wife. The play casting committee will be too happy to receive any college men who wish to come and try out, a?so. Come on, “Fellas,” it’s good experience and lots of fun. This invitation includes freshmen boys, too.Don’t forget the date, Oct. 15 and 16.“First Lady” will be presented In December, just before Christmas vocal ion. The play is a satirical farce based on Washington politics; rehearsals start the first week 3n November.This past summer, Crimson Masque and the Community Theatre presented two plays: “Arsenic arid Old Lace,” by Joseph Kesseling, and “Little Black Sambo and the Tigers,” by Char panning.Both plays were highly successful due to the able direction of Miss Williams and her assistant,Mrs. McAllister. The original sets for both plays were designed by Mrs. Van Abrecht of the Goodman Tiieater in Chicago,The characters were portrayed by townspeople and college students. Many of the parts were taken by National Collegiate Players as'well as many Monmouth college alums.Judging from the type of play presented this summer and the reaction of the audiences, we shall be seeing some very good ploys this year.
