Official Notice That Train Will Be Discontinued From Switz Switz City to Linton.Notice has been received from Mo-lt;non railway officials by John M. Correll, a member of the miners’ train committee, of the discontinuance of the Monon miners’ train between this city and Switz City, effective Saturday, October 11th.The notice received by Mr. Correll reads as follows:“Mr. John M. Correll, Miners Train Committee, Linton, Ind,“Dear Sir: Effective Saturday, October 11, we will discontinue operating our miners’ train from Switz City, that is, the last trip from Switz City will be Saturday morning, October 11'. On Saturday night, October 11, the train will run to Linton only and from there return to Midland to lay up. There will be. no change in the schedule in and out of Linton.“I give you this as advance information so you can get up necessary notice to your men. Yours truly,: “J. R. STEMM, Supt.”From the above it will her noted that the train will continue its daily trips from this city, the only change being in discontinuing the run on to Switz City. It is said that about sixty miners living at Switz City have been patrons of this train. These will have to seek other means of conveyance or else move to this city in order to enjoy the train privilege. It is said also that the continuation of the schedule out of tftis city hinges On the patronage that is given the traip. Report has it that last month between, 350 and 400 miners patronized this train, 'syhile but 118 monthly tickets were sold. This would indicate that there is “a nigger in the woodpile” somewhere. Unless there is a largely increased sale of monthly tickets it is not improbable that the train will be .discontinued altogether.
