Clerks Elect Their Permanent OfficersRoster Chosen at Meeting Ufk Ago (o 8erve Temporarily Will Act for One Ya*\At a meeting of the Joplin branch of the Clerks' International Protective Association held last night permanent officers for the ensuing year were elected.At the last meeting of the associationCharles Becker was elected temporarypresident and E. F. Go bar temporaryfinancial and recording secretary, and atlast night's meeting the election of thoseofficers was made permanent. They willserve for the remainder of the year. Other officers elected were: EdwinThomas, rice president; A. W. Barr, treasurer, and K. Bruner, guard.About forty-five persons were present at th6 meeting last night and the new addition to Joplin's unions Is one of the most enthusiastic ever organized here, according to members. It 'is expected that the membership will reach 150 with-irf a few' weeks.The organization intends to affiliate wit it the Trades Assembly as soon as all matters necessary to do so are adjusted. It Is probable that delegates to the assembly will be elected at the next meeting of the union.No women were present at last night s meeting, nor will they take part in the work until a permanent meeting place is found. The association has been holding their assemblies at any place obtainable. as it is said that most of the large halls in the city are taken up. A permanent assembly room probably will soon be found, however, and then the large number of women who have signed the membership roll will be taken in. The next meeting of the association will be held at No. 417 Main street.
