Mrs. Wilbert J. Persch of West Fourth street spends much of her time cooking hearty meals for her teen-age children, Wilbert Jr., 16, Robert, 15, and the twins, Margaret and Thomas, 14, but she still finds time for a few hobbies. She enjoys sewing, raises tropical fish, and makes copper enamel jewelry. Mrs. Persch does a great deal of church work as a member of —the, bishop’s committee of St. JMary's church, the Mothers club of Mindszenty High school, where her children are students, is active in the auxiliary of Boy Scout Troop 54 and Home Bureau Unit 2, where she learned to make jewelry. Mr. Persch is employed by Alco Products Inc. .Chocolate squares are a favorite with her family as well as her friends and she says she has had many requests for the recipe. .Chocolate Squares 2 squares bitter chocolateVi cup warm water Cook together until thick and then cool.1 cup sugar2 tblsp. shortening 1 egg1 tsp. vanilla1 cup sour milk or buttermilk Vt tsp. salt 1 tsp. soda VA- cups sifted flour Vi cup chopped nuts Cream sugar and shortening, add egg and vanilla. Mix well, Add chocolate mixture, then dry ingredients, alternating with milk. Beat well after each addition. Add nuts. Pour into a greased and floured 10x16 cooHe sheet. Bake in a moderate oven 20 to 25 minutes.Wien cool, frost with favorite chocolate frosting and sprinkle with nuts.
