INDY SHANNONIt's been more than a month since the Star-Fires have appeared at any dances in the area. The reason is that they are working in a new member.By the middle of October they will be ready to go again, this time with the addition of an electric organ.Three of the original members, Rich Betsinger, lead guitar; Rich Pittman, bass, and Dan Bottcher, drums, are looking forward to introducing a new sound to the area with their new member, Boyd Sibley, who plays organ. To my knowledge, this will be the first group in La Crosse featuring an organ. I’m looking forward to hearing them.Special thanks to the Star-Fires for letting their drummer boy, Dan, fill in for Ken Arnold, drummer with the Dynastys from Milwaukee, during the past few weeks. Ken was resting up from a collapsed lung. One of the newest teen groups in the area is having group name trouble, just like The Marauders hadwhen thev found out thev had to« •change their name to The Satisfactions. The Gentrys, who have just been together a few months, were recently confronted with the problem of a national group by the same name with a hit record called “Keep On Dancing.”I feel that they’ve picked a clever new name. The Fax, and I also think that you'll be hearing a lot about these four in the fugure. Their names are Greg Fritsch, lead guitar, Mike Palmer, rhythm guitar and main vocalist, Greg Haskell, drums, and Steve Noffke, bass. They are all Central High students, and you teens will have a chance to see them at their first Pepsi teen dance scheduled for Friday, Oct. 8 at the Avalon Ballroom. There are plans of making this a “battle of the bands” featuring another popular unit from the area.
