The swimming hole is four miles from Landusky, a short distance off the h Zortman rood. The water is always warm and contains medicinal qualities of high value. The warm water boils out of the lime rock at the western base of Morrison butte and is held by a 20- j foot dam built by the Ruby Gulch mining company. The water was carried from there through large wooden, wire bound pipes to the old power plant a mile below, where it was carried over a water wheel to help wood burners generate electricity for the mill and mine in Ruby gulch. After the large power plant was built at the river, this was known as the sub-station, and was operated with the other. The water now is carried through ditches and a flume across Rock creek to the large reservoir below the Gill ranch.A visit to the mountains is hardly complete without a trip to Hide-awayand the power plant at the Missouri river, which is now being dismantled.It is down through the Gill ranch, where Winters was shot from ambush, supposedly by the Curry boys. The tragic fate of his half-brother, Abram Gill, later, remains a mystery. Winter's grave is in the ridge back of the houseoverlooking the garden.
