Kane, Mt. Jewett and Smethport Mo-■ tor Bus Lines, now owned and ope rat1 ed by the Pensnylvania Ry. Co. Thl? i provides a direct route between Kanlt; f and Buffalo, by way of Mt. Jewett * Smethport -and: Glean, byAll the P. R. R_ busses now running into Smethport carry mail for the k eal postoffice and express. This gives 1 the town the best mail service it has enjoyed in years. In addition to the busses a large motor truck is operated one round trip daily between Buffalo and Smethport to carry surplus mail and heavy express.With the usheriny in of the new local transportation era, steam train| service on the local branch of the P. ; R. R. is not entirely abandoned. The i local freight train between Olean and i Clermont makes one shuttle trip each day, passing through Smethpoit ab-| out nooi: to Clermont and in the af-l ternoon on the return to Olean. This j train formerly carried passengers, but j the mixed train was discontineil Sat-! urday.I The other steam passenger train re-I moved was the Emporium to Buffalo local which made side trips from Lar-abee to Smethport on the northbound run in the morning and ori the return run from Buffalo to Emporium in the evening.Following is the new daily bus schedule for the Clermont branch:Leave Colegrove 8:45, arrive Smeth-port, 9:04, and Larabee at 9:30 a. m., connecting with BufFaFn train.Leave Larabee at 11:00 a.m.; arrive Smethport 11:20, at Colegrove at 11:45 m.Leave Colegrove 1:30. p. m.; arrive Smethport 1:49, at Larabee, 2:15, connecting with Port Allegany to Buffalo bus.Leave Larabee at 2:20 p. m,, arrive in Smethport 2:46.Leave Smethport 5:50 p. in.; arrive in Larabee at 6:15, connecting with evening train from Buffalo.Leave Larabee 6:20 p. m.; arrive in Smethjxxt 6:46, Coley rove 7:05.iln addition to the new bus service north, an added night run is made between Kane and Smethport, a bus leaving Kane at 10:13 p. m. and arriving here at 11:30.All busses stop locally at the East Smethport depot and at the Smethport postoffice By the new schedule this borough becomes an important motor bua terminal. The P. R. R. system has leased the large fireproof building on Water street, one time used by the Smethpoit Garage, ae a bua barn and repair shop for the care of the fleet of busses operating out of Smethport.
