A Wonderful Performance*Onebf tSe mbit interesting attractions at the Street Fair and Carnival last Thursday, Friday and Saturday was the wonderful perform ance given by Professor Fred Burns with; his-educated horse, diving dog andslide) for life: This'was one of the free attractions and was witnessed by thousands of people, all of whom pronounced it the grandest exhibition of the kind they.had ever witnessed and the officers of the Fair association are to be congratulated on securing so fine an attraction, which -was certainly worth many times the amount paid out for the same. Prof. Bums gave a'fun performance every day regardless of the weather and the large crowds were enthusiastic in their praise of the entire exhibition.The educated horse Logan is certainly one'of the most intelligent animals living and after witnessing one of his exhibitions no one can say. that he -has not a- fair understanding o.f the English language and a perfect conception of the different colors. The horse, which is a fair sized bay, will do not- only what his master commands, but will take his orders from any one m the audience. Prof. Burns had the horse go through tricks too numerous to mention, one of the most difficult being to pull out drawers in a table in which a number of hand: kerchiefs of different colors had been plabed and select the one called for by anyone in the audience, never at any time making a mistake in the color. The. animal also picked out and brought to his master from a large assortment of numbered pails the exact one desired, people in the audience at all times telling the horse the number wanted.Another feature of Prof. Burns’ entertainment is his diving dog, who climbs a 50-rung ladder placed almost perpendicular and after gazing at the crowds below for a few moments, dives into a small blanket held for his reception.The slide for life is the most thrilling feature of the three attractions, and from the time the performer leaves bis platform 100 feet; above the - ground, suspended only.; by his teeth to.a strap attached to a pully, until he reaches the ground almost a block away, the crowd is held spellbound at the daring act.
