I * . .A friend of Everett Thompkins, former Iolan, is showing a booklet distributed by Radio Station KTSW of Emporia that includes brief sketches of j the work done by its personnel. Thompkins, Iola High School graduate and son of Herman A.‘Thompkins of Iola, is chief engineer of the broadcasting company. Of him, the publication says: “Everett Thompkins. is more widely known to the radio audience as the weatherman heard every day at 7:15 a. m. and 12:30 p. m. What isn't known by the majority is that Everett is the chief engineer of the Emporia Broadcasting Company, the man who is responsible for all of the expensive equipment used to operate a station. Everett, as chief, has a desk in the large control room but is more apt to be found working with the many pieces of equipment ! necessary for a good operation. He is usually in the control room or his own workshop located adjoining the control room.”
