PeopleVickie Sanchez, daughter of Joe and June Sanchez, former Wakefield residents, was among the Emmy Award winners named on national television on Sunday, Sept. 21.Miss Sanchez, nominated by her peers, received her Emmy for the best costume design for the television series “North and South,” which played last winter. Her escort during the Los Angeles awards presentationwas her brother, Hick Sanchez, ofChicago,Vickie’s Emmy was presented and videotaped a week prior to thenational awards program and played during the Sunday program.Now of Hollywood and Los Angeles, Vickie was born and raised in Wakefield and graduated from Wakefield High School in 1963. She is also a graduate of Michigan State University.During her high schooldays Vickie was active in many school clubs, band, photo club, school paper, yearbook, class play, prom, music masters, forensics, Latin Club, student council, ski club, pep club and chorus.
