JaiieHeiir\,AltonSi*hoolsHome Economist, RetiresMiss Jane Henry, public schools home economics director and former home economics instructor of Alton High School, will retire effective Friday, it was announced today.Miss Henry has been associated with the Alton School system since 1924. For eight years before that she taught in the eastern part of the state.A reception, sponsored by all school employes in the district, will be held for Miss Henry at 2 p.m. Dec. 9 in East Junior High School. The public is invited.She is the daughter of the late John Henry, and a member of a family long prominent in Madison County. Miss Henry’s brother., the late Thomas Henry, was a former county treasurer and an outstanding athlete at Alton High school.Miss Henry is a graduate of Shurtleff College and holds a master’s degree from Columbia University in New York. In addition, she spent one year at the University of Illinois, and several summers at Cornell University.She has been credited by pro-with a first rateJANE HENRYknowledge of nutrition and cafeteria management.Dr. J. B. Johnson, superintendent of Alton Schools, commenting on the retirement, said: “I consider Miss Henry’s techniques, attitudes and professional standards superior in every respect. The school system will lose a friend and great educator when she retires.”
