TWO NORTH SIDE INTEMPERA TE 00A TSOne Devours Temperance Lite rat u re, Other Drowns self in “Drink. ”The Nannie goat Joe Yungck bought several weeks ago in the country is training to do temperance work or else is determined to destroy, obliterate, and remove all temperance literature she could find, to prevent it working for the dry cause. Yesterday morning the goat finding the door of the carpenter shop of E. O. Vungck (father of Joe) open entered and not caring for chisels, saws or planes, she nosed around until she found a lot of temperance tracts, pamphlets on the same subject and small books bearing on the horrors of strong drink which had been stored there temporarily. She got busy at once and before being discovered had absorbed entire tracts,•pamphlets and books on temperance and was reaching for some learned and valuable campaign plan literature to assimilate that when discovered and driven .away. Just what the result of the goat’s “schooling” will be is uncertain yet. It has been said that ’a little learning is a dangerous thing” and perhaps she will have to be allowed to take a few more lessons at least before she becomes properly balanced.That is one goat story. Here is the other. Recently Julius Maus sold the goat belonging to his daughter to Will Kleboldt, the latter wanting it for his boy. The goat was of an inquiring disposition or else possessed a consuming thirst and in trying to satisfy this thirst fell into a well and was drowned. The thirst is satisfied for keeps and the goat’s curiosity had disappeared, too.
