Jim Hale joins WZLE-FM radioOusted WJKW-TV Channel 8 newscaster Jim Hale is now being heard as an announcer for WZLE-FM Radio (104.9) in Lorain.Hale, weeknight news co-anchorman dropped by the Cleveland television station a few months ago, started working at the Lorain radio station yesterday.WZLE-Radio's offices and broadcast studios are located in the Sheffield Center.WE’RE OF course very happy. He’s top quality, there’s no question about it. He'll be doing newscasts, air work, cutting commercials,” explained station president Gene Sens.Hale and co-anchorman Jeff May nor were told in July by the TV station their contracts would not be renewed because of declining ratings.They were replaced when their contracts expired in September by Judd Hambrick, brother of former WEWS-TV Channel 5 newscaster John JIM HALLHambrick.Hale, 36, came to Cleveland from KDFW-TV in. Dallas in 1973. Maynor is still working at Channel 8 as a news reporter.SENS SAID to his knowledge Hale has not been working with television or radio since his contract at Channel 8 expired.‘‘I don’t know how long he’ll be with us. A man of his caliber will probably go back into television eventually,” Sens said.Hale was not available for comment.His first featured airtime will be a “Star Wars” special today from 8 to 9 p.m. During that hour Hale will host a “Thanksgiving ‘you-tape-it’ ’’ special during which WZLE will air the original soundstrack of Uie record-breaking film for listeners to tape on their home recorders.
