Fog«4-C THE INDEPENDENT lw|i mi.—nwnnylt; N*Y.i4,m»So You'll KnowP-A SYSTEM TUNEDFOR PARADE REPORTSOf great importance to the success of a project of such magnitude as the All-Western Band Review is the information regarding the various units in the parade available to the thousands of spectators who line the streets to view the spectacle.Through a loudspeaker system this information is broadcast at numerous points along the line of march so that a complete and intelligent summary of what is going on may be heard at the precise moment of approach.The job of installing individual P-A systems is in the hands of Bill Trevarthen. an electronics expert, who has served in that capacity for the past three years, or since the band reviews were resumed after World War II. .It requires a month's work preparing the intricate system and seeing that it is properly filled. In contrast, after the parade, it takes only an hour to disassemble it.Students of City College and members of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, who have made a practice of studying public speaking, will man the P-A units, whichFAMILYOCCASIONALTABLESOver 200 tables to choose from. Large selection of mahogany, maple, walnutBILL TREVARTIIEN P-A Electronics E\|Hrtwill be located at strategic points along the parade route.Firms co-operating with the committee and where units will be set up include Sears, Eastern Outfitting, Walker’s, Freeman McKenzie, Chandler's Boot Shop, Baker's at Seventh and American.In addition the city electrician, C. M. Morrison, will install a complete P-A system at the reviewing station .on Ocean Blvd. City College will lend ita football loudspeaker system for use at the formation area and starting chute of the parade.Portable UnitA portable unit loaned by the U. S. navy recruiting service, will be used at the intersection of Locust. Ave. and Sixth St. Another portable unit will be used at Seventh and American.This closely knit system of broadcasting facilities will enable the announcers to give a direct and all-inclusive review of the parade units.
