Stemple informed a reporterthis morning that he has leased the' i** second story of the opera house build- * ^ ing on which he holds a lease, to an organization of colored people who will open a picture show and vaude-!9 ville for the coloerd population of St.18 Charles. Mr. Stemple says he had the ie matter under advisement for some ®* time and after consulting with a nnm-^ ber of the business men, officials and others regarding the matter, and se-k* cured their approval of the idea, he closed the lease. As conditions have J8 been the colored people have no pic-“■ ture shows which they can attend and they feel the need of such recreation. llt;* Mr. Stemple. says under the terms of r* the lease no white people are to be admitted to the opera house building as he would not permit it to be used y in competition wtih his own picture show Rouse at the Strand theatre.* Good order, will be maintained of. r course.
