Smith, the dramatic reader of Cleveland, gave the last number of the series of readings which she has been giving in Elyria, on Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. A. L. Garford, on Washington avenue. The subject of the reading: yesterday was, “The Christmas Carol,” by Charles Dickens, and Mrs. Smith’s impersonations of the different characters were vivid and highly dramatic, and her manner .throughout was delightfully pleasing. This series of readings in Elyria have been very enjoyable events from social and artistic standpoint as well as instructive and educational About fifty ladies were present at the Garford home.
