Lethbridge Man Pilot Of PlaneDown In NorthEDMONTON—iCP)— Three occupants of a light plane forced down In the far north probably will be flown out today.An R.CA.F. Dakota located the downed plane yesterday on the frozen Bprnside River 35 miles southwest of Bathurst Inlet, Bathurst Inlet Is about 1.000 air miles northeast of Edmonton.The Dakota passed a message to the three men on the ground that an Associated Airways plane would pick them up. ✓It was an Associated Airways plane, a'Bellanca. in which the three—pilot Max Ward of Lethbridge and Edmonton, mechanic Neal Murphy of Yellowknife and a passenger named Learmouth—were flying from Yellowknife to Coppermine, N.W.T., via Bathurst Inlet.The pilot radioed Yellowknife that no one was injured in the forced landing. The temperature in the area was down to 25 below during the night.LETHBRIDGE RESIDENTMax Ward, who piloted the Associated Airways plane which was forced down In the fair north near Bathurst Inlet, Is a resident of Lethbridge. He-moved here with his wile about Vh 'years ago after flying as a bush pilot In 7be north for nearly five years.Until last summer Pilot Ward was a building contractor In the city, having built a number of residences, mostly in the new southeast section of the city. Then during the summer be left to again fly for Associated Airways, based at Yellowknife.Damage to the undercarriage of the aircraft during the forced landing prevented a take-off again.Mrs. Ward and two children reside at 1732 10th Ave. A S. in the city.
